With the 2015 officially in the books in college football, it’s time for the early 2016 projections to start rolling out, and Tennessee fans are anxiously waiting to see where the Vols will be projected in what could be a huge year for the program.
It is way too early, just as the poll’s name suggests, but ESPN sees the Vols as a fringe Top 10 team in 2016, ranking UT No. 11 in its Way-Too-Early College Football Poll for 2016.
Here’s an excerpt from the article:
“After winning nine games this past season, the mortar finally seems dry on UT coach Butch Jones’ three-year rebuilding job. With nine starters expected back on offense and as many as eight on defense, the Vols might be the favorites in the SEC East this coming season. Quarterback Joshua Dobbs needs to continue to improve as a passer, but he’ll have a lot of talented skill players returning with him.”
Clemson, which just lost the national title to Alabama, is ranked No. 1 in this poll. The Tide come in second. LSU (No. 7) is the only other SEC team ranked higher than UT. Ole Miss (13) and Georgia (23) are the other SEC teams in the poll.
