Was it a good ranking? Townsend came to UT ranked as one of the best punters in the nation and many assumed he would be handed the job after the graduation of Matt Darr. Trevor Daniel had a big say in that, however, as the former walk-on punter was historically good after winning the job in camp. Townsend shouldn’t feel any shame in that, though he’ll have to likely wait his turn. Daniel still has two years of eligibility remaining and doesn’t look like he’ll give up that job at any point.

Was it a good ranking? Lovingood is a talented long snapper that Jones decided to bring in to redshirt while Matt Giampapa finished his senior year. Now he should be the odds-on favorite to secure that position for the next four years. Can you really give a long snapper anything but a two-star ranking?
