A Look Back at the 2015 Recruiting Class

Preston Williams-1-2

 Receivers

Preston Williams
Initial ranking: ★★★
Was it a good ranking? Williams was another fringe five star player in the 2015 class. After arriving late due to eligibility concerns, Williams got thrown into immediate action against Bowling Green despite limited practice reps. He showed some potential and was one of the few players that UT targeted in the vertical passing game all year. A midseason hamstring injury really slowed him down, however, and it feels like we didn’t get a great feel for what he can do yet. He continues to be a high-upside four-star type prospect for now.

Jauan Jennings
Initial ranking: ★★★★ (Quarterback)
Was it a good ranking? Jennings came in as a dual-threat quarterback who settled in at wide receiver in the fall after experimenting at QB in the spring. That was the right move, it appears. Jennings was a training camp star and settled into a regular spot in the rotation, though, like many of the other receivers, his production wasn’t what some were hoping. Some have opined that he could end up as a safety eventually, and that’s possible, but he has a fairly bright future at receiver if he sticks there. He’s a fierce blocker and special teams player as well.

Vincent Perry
Initial ranking: ★★★
Was it a good ranking? I only got a few glimpses of him in fall camp/scrimmage settings before he went down with a knee injury, but I do think he would’ve been in the rotation had he stayed healthy. That’ll be the challenge going forward for him after dealing with health issues in high school too, but he has some true athletic upside.
Rerank: ★★★
