2015 stats at Dodge City CC: 44 tackles, 2 INT, 11 pass-breakups
DJ Henderson is a Dodge City Community College teammate of Jeff George, and practiced against him every day at cornerback. The most impressing thing that I see on Henderson’s tape is his ability to make tackles in space. He swarms to the ball and makes solid tackles rather than soft arm wraps. At 6-foot 1, he is a good height for a corner and has the speed to keep up with just about every receiver Tennessee will face. He needs to continue to improve his footwork to be in the best position for making an interception, and will definitely make strides under new defensive coordinator Bob Shoop. He might not start right away, but by mid-season it wouldn’t surprise me to see him taking practice reps with the first-string.
