1. Coaching searches are no longer a joke for UT
The Vols have had a rough go in coaching searches in recent years all over the athletics department. But the last three major hires UT has made – head basketball coach Rick Barnes, football tight ends coach Larry Scott and now Shoop as defensive coordinator, have all drawn national praise and attention. There was no long line of candidates publicly turning the Vols down and getting raises in these last few situations.
The Vols are identifying proven coaches, they’re contacting them, negotiating aggressively and getting them to Knoxville. That’s how it should be done at Tennessee.
