2. Nashville will remain a recruiting priority
The Vols doubled down on their commitment to make the city of Nashville a priority in recruiting with the Shoop hire. He has extensive connections there from his time as the defensive coordinator at Vanderbilt from 2011-13, and he’s generally known to be loved in that area by a lot of the high school coaches and others in that football community. He had a big role in Vandy’s ability to recruit at a level never before seen by the Commodores during that era.
He continued to recruit Nashville for Penn State and will have instant credibility when he walks into high schools in that area going forward. Tennessee’s already had a big impact in the midstate. It should only get bigger with the addition of Shoop.
