Every Friday, a member of the RTI team will post a top-10 list. Many will be directly related to UT athletics, but some will veer off course a bit.
Tennessee still isn’t at a point depth-wise where it has the luxury of redshirting a ton of players, but there were still several potentially important players in the future who sat out this year and gained an extra year of eligibility.
A quick refresher on the rules: if a player participates even in one play during the season, he is not eligible for a redshirt season. The team can, however, apply for a medical hardship (also referred to as a medical redshirt) for players who only appear in a certain percentage of games, sustain a serious injury and still have a redshirt year available.
