Tennessee made the move on Wednesday to “mutually part ways” with defensive coordinator John Jancek, who has been with Butch Jones for the past six years in the role. Now Jones faces a critical hire at that position as the Vols enter a year they could potentially contend for a championship.
Jancek clearly left the defense in significantly better shape than he found it when he arrived in 2013, and now Jones will look for a top defensive coordinator that can take Tennessee to the next level. It’s still very early in the process, but here are some names to at least keep in mind because they have connections to Jones, have been reportedly linked to the opening or just could potentially be a good fit for what the Vols are looking for.
