The Vols released a video on their official Twitter account, showing some historic UT jerseys that featured the alternate gray look, concluding with a picture of current Vol Devon Baulkman wearing the present Smokey gray uniform, which was first released by UT and Nike this past July. The caption “Wednesday” indicates that the Vols will wear them against the Gators in Thompson-Boling Arena in their SEC home opener.

Tennessee’s basketball team last wore gray in the 2014 SEC tournament against Florida – falling 56-49 to top seed Florida in the semifinals before going on to the NCAA tournament under Cuonzo Martin and advancing to the Sweet 16.

The Vols (7-6, 0-1 SEC) will host the Gators (9-4, 1-0) on Wednesday night in Knoxville at 7 pm ET (ESPN2).

“They’re Smokey Grey and they’ve got the `VOLS’ on it, and the new KD shoes they sent in with them,” Barnes said of the look on Monday. “It’s a nice looking uniform, it really is. I was kind of thinking we maybe should’ve taken them to Auburn, since they asked us to wear the white uniforms. Maybe we should’ve broken out the grey ones…I think the guys are excited about it. I hope our fans want to come see it.”
