Tennessee’s resounding 45-6 win over Northwestern made enough of a statement that several around the nation heard it.
The Vols have received praise from numerous national analysts, personalities and pundits, and ESPN’s Edward Aschoff said the Vols made the biggest statement of any SEC teams this postseason with their impressive win.
“”Tennessee had a ton to prove after winning five straight against teams without winning records. The Volunteers steamrolled Northwestern’s highly-rated defense for five rushing touchdowns in Tennessee’s 45-6 win in the Outback Bowl. Tennessee held Northwestern to 261 yards and forced four turnovers, including 100-yard pick-six with eight seconds remaining,” he wrote after declaring the Vols as the SEC team that made the biggest statement. “With this performance and the talent coming back, Tennessee will be the trendy favorite to win the SEC Eastern Division.”
Get accustomed to this hype. Tennessee is going to have a ton of expectations on it heading into 2016, especially with such an emphatic finish to the season.
