NCAA rules permit bowls to provide up to $550 worth of gifts for up to 125 participants per school. Teams are also permitted to give players bowl T-shirts and rings after the bowl or playoff games.
Tennessee players received a Fossil watch and their choice of Panasonic gifts for participating in the TaxSlayer Bowl last year. This year they will receive a $150 Best Buy gift card, an Outback Steakhouse gift card, (another) Fossil watch, a Jostens ring and a cap.
SBNation ranked all the bowl gifts this year and put the Outback Bowl at No. 7 overall – in the “good gifts” category. The Russell Athletic Bowl took top honors on their list with a $350 Best Buy shopping trip, a Timely Watch Co. watch, ISlide footwear, a beach towel and a Russell Athletic performance pullover. The Arizona Bowl, which only gives custom-made cowboy boots, came in dead last among the standard bowls.
