10. Cam Sutton sets punt return record
Junior cornerback Cam Sutton was already having one of the best seasons in returns of returning punts this year for the Vols. But on the last game of the regular season, Sutton made his 2015 season truly historic.
Sutton ripped off an 85-yard punt return for a score against Vanderbilt during Tennessee’s 53-28 rout of the Commodores on November 28th, and he broke the school’s single-season punt return mark in the process. Sutton finished the regular season with 467 punt return yards, breaking Bobby Majors’ record of 457 yards in 1969.
Sutton’s touchdown was his second of the season and the third of his career. He’s returned 25 punts this year for an average of 18.7 yards a return. Sutton can build upon his new record when the Vols take on Northwestern on January 1st in the Outback Bowl.
