Friday Top 10: What We Learned About UT This Year

 7. Tennessee learned how to take care of business

defense-1

When Tennessee was a big favorite this year, the Vols took care of business. Tennessee knocked out Bowling Green, Western Carolina, North Texas, Missouri, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and South Carolina by an average of 24 points. The South Carolina game was the only one in serious doubt in the fourth quarter, but the Vols made the play they needed in that one. The Arkansas game, where the Vols were favored by about a touchdown in, was the only notable exception this year, though the Razorbacks went on to prove later in the season that they could be a very dangerous team.

The Missouri game might’ve been the best example of UT taking care of business. The Vols were favored and had the better team, though a lot of questions surrounded if Mizzou would rally behind head coach Gary Pinkel in his final home game. Tennessee went to Columbia and meticulously beat the Tigers at their own game in what wasn’t a flashy showing, but one that showed that this team has grown and matured.
