Option 1: Promote GA Nick Sheridan to the full-time staff
Offensive coordinator Mike DeBord is currently the quarterbacks coach in title, but at least in the portions of practice that were open all year, it was graduate assistant Nick Sheridan, a former Michigan quarterback who previously was a quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator at Western Kentucky and South Florida, who was primarily working with the quarterbacks.
Virtually everything we’ve heard from people around the program about him has been positive, and since he’s been a GA at Tennessee for two years, he can’t be retained in that position any longer following this year. So the logical move could be to promote him to full-time quarterbacks coach, shift DeBord, who has been an NFL tight ends coach, to that position and then either assign the special teams coordinator title either to another assistant or divide that among the staff.
