8. Derek Dooley as Jar Jar Binks
Easily one of the most detested and hated characters in all of Star Wars isn’t even a bad guy. Jar Jar Binks was introduced in the first prequel movie in 1999 and was immediately hated by most every fan of the original trilogy. Jar Jar is a dimwitted character whose poor judgement and bad decisions put him and his companions in loads of trouble.
Much like Jar Jar, Derek Dooley’s poor decisions and foolish choices put the Vols in deep trouble in his three year tenure as Tennessee’s head coach.
Easily one of the most hated head coaches in Tennessee history, Dooley brought the Vols to all-time lows from 2010-12. Whether it was losing to Kentucky in 2011, getting dominated by Vanderbilt in 2012, or nearly losing to Troy and allowing an obscene amount of yards on defense in 2012, Dooley is synonymous with “failure” for Vol fans.
In that way, Dooley and Jar Jar couldn’t be more alike. While Jar Jar ultimately rose to respectability in the film franchise’s universe, fans never took him seriously and have continued to loathe him. Dooley is likely to receive that same treatment from Vol fans.
