Report Card: Tennessee 53, Vanderbilt 28

Austin Smith-1

 Overall

You are what the scoreboard and your record says you are, and all that points to an improved football team at Tennessee. Sure, that blowout win or the five-game winning streak to end the season won’t erase some of the “what ifs” from early in the year, but the Vols never gave in and took care of business down the stretch. They had that same attitude Saturday night – never panicking when Vanderbilt did some good things and cut the early lead to 17-14. The Vols toughened up in all three phases – scoring with the offense, defense and special teams – on their way to an overall impressive victory against an in-state opponent that had made life difficult on them the past several years.
