Tennessee (-7) at Missouri, 7:15 pm ET, ESPN 2
John: This game scares the daylights out of me. And, quite frankly, I don’t get the line. Because (a) Tennessee has yet to be Missouri, (b) this Volunteer team has proven to be one that lacks focus from time to time, (c) it’s going to be cold (something which CBJ seems to be fixated on for some reason — hey, Coach, it’s November and a night game, so…), but most importantly, (d) this is Gary Pinkel’s last ever home game.
He’s their all-time winningest head coach. He’s taken a team that people scoffed at upon its SEC entry and led them to two consecutive SEC East titles. He’s consistently done more with less, at least in the East. He’s battling cancer. So if you don’t think that team and that crowd won’t be eight kinds of fired up, then I don’t know what to tell you.
Tennessee should win this game. They’re the more talented team. But the Tigers will do anything they can to send their guy out a winner, particularly considering a big upset win would be a bowl-qualifying one as well. Vols win, but take Missouri +7.
Kevin: Tennessee has been underwhelming in the last few weeks, but it may have just played down to the level of their competition. Missouri is playing for their embattled head coach, Gary Pinkel. Tennessee may win this game, but there’s no way in hell i’m betting on them to win by seven. Missouri +7.
