Welcome to 2015, Von Pearson. Pearson, who came into the game with just 164 yards receiving on the season, was Joshua Dobbs’ primary target on Saturday, pulling in eight catches for 121 yards and a touchdown that put the Vols up 14-0 early. Outside of Pearson, there wasn’t a ton of consistent production from this group, though Josh Smith, Johnathon Johnson and Ethan Wolf all made some timely plays. The drop by Josh Malone in the end zone will be largely forgotten because the Vols were able to pull out the win, but that could’ve been catastrophic. This is another group that, while fighting depth issues, wasn’t perfect on the night, but did enough to pull UT through.
