Pick 6: SEC Against the Spread — Week 10

Power T-1

South Carolina at Tennessee (-17), 4:00 pm ET, SEC Network

Kevin: This one here is a tough one, the Vols are definitely playing their best football of the season, but 17 is a lofty margin for this team. I assume Vegas (probably correctly) predicts that South Carolina won’t be able to stop Tennessee’s offense. Pharoh Cooper tore the Vols to shreds last year, and should have an opportunity to repeat that performance. I like the Vols here, and while 17 makes me very nervous, I’ll take Tennessee -17.

John: Good grief, that’s a big number. And South Carolina surprised me a bit last week by putting up 28 points on the road against the Aggies. And, truthfully, Tennessee surprised me a bit with its dominance in Lexington. While I expected a cover, I didn’t think it would be the name-your-number affair it turned into. My kneejerk is South Carolina, but one stat keeps creeping into my mind that gives me pause. Derek Barnett has had at least one sack in each of the last three games. Couple that with the resurgence of Corey Vereen and I have faith UT can get to the quarterback. Which will be key if they want to contain Pharoh Cooper. And if the Vols can do that, I think they’ll cover the number. Be a homer. Bet on Tennessee -17.

Till next week, friends.
