Notes: Brett Kendrick Out for SC Game, More Updates

Butch Jones-1-2Butch Jones provided a brief injury update on Wednesday afternoon to the local media.

Right tackle Brett Kendrick, who started the first five games of the seasons, will miss his fourth straight game on Saturday against South Carolina as he battles an elbow and knee injury. Freshman Chance Hall is expected to continue to start in his place.

Guard Jashon Robertson (ankle) and receiver Preston Williams (hamstring) are questionable for this weekend. Jones previously had listed Robertson as probable for the SC game.

“All of these individuals have worked hard to get themselves back,” Jones said. “I really appreciate their efforts.”

Safety Stephen Griffin re-aggravated an ankle injury in practice and is doubtful for the game, per Jones, who also said that receiver Jason Croom (knee), who has been out all season, has progressed but isn’t ready to get back to practice yet.

Jones also said freshman linebacker Quart’e Sapp remains sidelined and could be headed towards a medical redshirt this season.

Sapp has played in four games this season, which technically makes him ineligible for a medical hardship as it’s formally known, though the Vols could appeal that like they did with Dillon Bates last year and likely would win.
