Coaching
It took a while, but it appears that offensive coordinator Mike DeBord is shaking off the rust of not calling plays for a few years. Since the Georgia game, there hasn’t been much to complain about on that front. And against the Wildcats, the most impressive thing was his ability to keep the defense guessing with a balanced attack of runs, read-option plays, short passes and even the occasional deep bomb. The defense only allowed 14 points since one touchdown came on a Joshua Dobbs turnover, so overall the defensive play calling was efficient. It will be interesting to see if Butch Jones and the Vols can keep this momentum for the rest of the season. The staff currently had the team ready on Saturday.
