RTI’s Midseason Report Card

Jalen Hurd-1-2

 Running Backs

This position was expected to be a strength of this team and I don’t think they’ve disappointed. Jalen Hurd has run very well all season long and looks like he gets stronger as they game wears on. Hurd being limited to around 20 carries per game should help him stay fresh all season long and could spell big things down the stretch. Alvin Kamara is dynamic and the coaches have done a very nice job of finding unique ways to get him the ball at times. The running game has disappeared for extended stretches at times, but I don’t fault the players entirely. The coaches need to do a better job of putting these guys in better positions to be successful at time. While Kamara and Hurd have looked sensational, John Kelly has come in and run very well at times also. The one-two punch the Vols possess in Hurd and Kamara may be the best in the SEC.
