Quarterbacks
Joshua Dobbs has looked very good at times (BGSU, UGA, UF), and very poor at others (OU, Ark). I think it’s safe to say that Mike DeBord and Joshua Dobbs took a little time to figure each other out to start the season before putting it all together against Georgia. On the year, Dobbs is 98-of-169 for 1,101 yards, 8 touchdowns and only two interceptions. He’s also added 73 rushes for 368 yards and another 5 scores, as well as a really nice 58-yard touchdown grab against Florida. He’s played smart football, he’s protected the football (for the most part), and he’s developed into a true leader of the team. As receivers get healthy and DeBord learns more about what he has, Dobbs could be in for a very big second half of the season. It’s also worth noting that Quinten Dormady looked really good against Western Carolina in limited reps, so the Vols look like they have a solid option at backup QB should they need it.
