Receivers/Tight Ends
I know they turned it around a little bit against Georgia, but this group has been among the biggest disappointments for Team 119 this season. The Vol wideouts have failed to get open against press coverage, failed to make some routine catches, and failed to live up to the expectations of ‘Wide Receiver University.’ Injuries to Jason Croom and Marquez North hurt, as did the preseason suspension to Von Pearson and the in-season dismissal of Pig Howard. But the fact that two true freshman – Jauan Jennings and Preston Williams – are playing as much as they are should tell you that some of the other guys have regressed a bit.
That said, this is a group that I expect to have a really big second half of the season as they get healthy and more comfortable with Joshua Dobbs. Until we see it, however, the grade for this group will be poor.
