RTI’s Midseason Report Card

Hall Jones-1

 Offensive Line

This group, although far from perfect, is much-improved over a year ago. Tennessee is 3rd in the SEC in rushing per game at 222.0 yards per contest, and are averaging a solid 4.6 yards per carry. The offensive line looks more comfortable and more cohesive than they did at any time last season, and they’ve been battling through various injuries of their own all year. The 11 sacks surrendered are a bit overstated considering that the receivers really struggled to get open down the field through the first five games of the season, and there have been times in the rushing game where conservative play-calling really hurt rushing averages. They are far from perfect, but this is a solid unit considering where they were last year and what they’ve been forced to deal with in 2015.
