No. 7 Michigan State at No. 12 Michigan (-6.5), Saturday, 3:30 pm, ESPN
Kevin: Harbaugh and Michigan are all anyone can talk about, and for good reason. This is one of my favorite betting scenarios because I feel safe when spreads on rivalry games have even the slightest bit of cushion (see Texas v. Oklahoma) in the spread. I imagine the Spartans are interested in proving that they’re still the best team in the state, but either way I doubt they lose by more than 6. I’ll roll Michigan State + 6.5
John: OOOH. Kevin slipped in a non-SEC game. I suppose this one is a bit more compelling than the Vanderbilt-South Carolina matchup. Here’s the thing, though. I don’t care. Like at all. This is almost a theory game, whereby one always takes the lower ranked team that’s favored at home. So, since home Michigan at No. 12 is ranked lower than away Sparty at No. 7, you take Michigan, despite the fact it seems counterintuitive, at least if the polls are to be trusted. But true theory games are when the lower ranked home team is favored to win by three or fewer, which is clearly not the case here. Which means this isn’t a true theory game. Still, Sparty is 0-6 ATS while Michigan is 4-2. Rivalry game be damned. I’m on the Wolverines (and still don’t care). Michigan -6.5
