Status
One of the top receivers in the nation, Davis reopened his recruitment after previously committing to South Carolina. That’s a good thing for Tennessee. The Vols are looking to add a couple top-flight receivers in this class to give the position a jolt, and Davis is the type of player with the size/skill/athleticism combination to do just that. He visited UT in the spring and late in the summer for Orange Carpet Day, while planning a return trip to Knoxville for the UGA game. Georgia will be tough to beat, and he’s still giving Auburn and others a hard look as well, but Tennessee, which got another visit for the open practice on Aug. 15, looks to be a real factor when he makes his decision on October 23. Davis plans to be an early enrollee as well.
Tennessee QB commitment Jarrett Guarantano seems to have taken Davis in as a personal target in recruiting and the Vols are also heavily involved with Davis’ high school teammate, offensive tackle E.J. Price.

How He Fits
Watch just a few of his highlights and it’s easy to see that Davis could be an early-impact receiver for the Vols. He has some physical similarities to former Vol Da’Rick Rogers in terms of his combination of size and athleticism.
He’s simply a mismatch for every defender he faces at the high school level and could cause problems for a lot of collegiate defenders as soon as he steps on a campus. He’d be an ideal recruit for the Vols as they look to find help for a group of receivers on campus that has been more about potential than production.
