Running Backs
26 carries for 126 yards for Jalen Hurd and Alvin Kamara isn’t a bad night, but the combined six carries after halftime is perplexing. Hurd and Kamara each had success running outside, but Tennessee essentially chose to abandon the running game in the third and fourth quarters. The backs averaged nearly five yards per carry, but were mostly used as check-down options in the passing game after the break. Kamara caught four passes for 40 yards, and Jalen Hurd added three receptions for 51…Good numbers, but confusing game-planning and talent management.
