Another double-digit lead blown, and another heartbreaking loss for Tennessee. The Vols now sit at 2-3 on the season with games against Georgia and Alabama on the horizon. Here’s a look at the grades from last night’s performance.
Secondary
Arkansas quarterback Brandon Allen only completed 11-of-24 passes, but the completions were mostly big plays as Allen amassed 219 yards and a touchdown. Wide receiver Drew Morgan caught five passes for 110 yards, and tight end Hunter Henry hauled in three catches for an additional 62 yards – including 51 yards on a critical third down conversion in the third quarter that allowed Arkansas to continue draining the clock after regaining the lead. The secondary’s inability to secure tackles turned would-be mediocre plays into game-changers, and they once again failed to make a big play to steal momentum for their team. The stats aren’t the worst you’ll see, but that doesn’t hide the fact that it was a sub-par night for the secondary.
