Arkansas at Tennessee (-6.5), Saturday, 7:00 pm ET, ESPN2
Kevin: No way to look at statistics with this game and made an educated guess. Both of these teams are the Titanic post-iceberg collision, trying to get as many women and children off board as quickly as possible. Arkansas has a weak secondary, and Tennessee is sitting near the bottom of the FBS in passing efficiency. I seem to be safe in betting against Tennessee this season so I’ll go with Arkansas +6.5.
John: I was watching the FL game with Sam and Jack (the male contingency of my triplets who turned 8 on Tuesday!). And when TN had the ball up by six in the fourth with like three minutes to go or whatever it was, Sam was like “There’s no way we can lose right?”
Shit. That poor kid just hasn’t watched much UT football, now has he?
I don’t mean to come off jaded or bitter. But if you consider the myriad of questionable coaching calls made by Butch Jones in the Florida game, then tell me you like them laying 6.5 against Arkansas, then you’re crazy, man.
Plus, there’s this. If someone told you before the season started that the Vols limped into this game at 2-2 thanks to historical chokes against OU and FL, yet were favored by nearly a touchdown, you’d laugh that guy out of town. And rightfully so.
Vols win, but the play is Arkansas +6.5.
