For the second time in two weeks, the Vol coaching staff had a win in the bag but somehow managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Tennessee’s unimaginative play calling in the 4th quarter, on both sides of the ball, proved disastrous. So did electing not to go for two points with 10:19 remaining. Jones’ decision to call a timeout when Florida was prepping to attempt a field goal also led to a Gator touchdown. Then, there was miscommunication when the Vols were driving into Florida territory for a potential game winning field goal. That cost Tennessee five yards and, potentially, the game.
