Coaching
It’s hard to ask for too much more from the staff this week. Yes, the Vols had a significant edge in virtually every aspect of the matchup, but they seemed focused and prepared and didn’t look to show too many ill-effects from last week’s heartbreaker, nor were they looking ahead to Florida too much. Butch Jones called it a professional, workman-like performance and we agree with that assessment overall. Jones stuck to his guns, or “analytics” early, opting to kick a field goal from inside the 2-yard line on UT’s second drive and punting on fourth-and-1 near midfield shortly after. Obviously, those decisions won’t be scrutinized nearly as much in a blowout-type of game. All-in-all though, UT got what it wanted out of this game and now faces a huge game for this staff at Florida next weekend.
