Running Backs
Jalen Hurd got about 6 or 7 yards seemingly whenever he wanted. There was no reason to overwork him and the Vols did a pretty good job of managing his workload (11 carries, 68 yards, TD). Alvin Kamara (7 carries, 47 yards, TD) got back on track somewhat after being mostly shutout against OU last week. And freshman John Kelly continues to run hard when he gets his opportunities. He ran 13 times for 59 yards and rarely goes down on the first hit. Hurd and Kamara will handle most of the load going forward as long as they’re healthy, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Vols pick a few spots for Kelly this year, even in some closer games.
