Friday Top 10: Things the Vols Can Work on Against Western Carolina

2. Passing Game

Joshua Dobbs-1-2

It seems one of the most talked about topics this week has been Joshua Dobbs’ inability to pass the ball down the field. And after going 13-of-31 with only 125 passing yards against Oklahoma last week, it would seem to be a fair concern.

The Vols need to work on the passing game as a whole, which starts with protection up front. Although Dobbs can extend plays with his legs, blitzes need to be picked up to give both Dobbs and the receivers a better chance to make a play. Receivers need to run crisp, effective routes , while showing they can get off press coverage, and Dobbs needs to be smart and accurate. The Vols and offensive coordinator Mike DeBord should work on making their passing game more dynamic against the Catamounts.
