Tennessee coach Butch Jones stopped well short of blaming Tennessee’s 31-24 overtime loss to Oklahoma on the officials, but he did have some comments when asked about them at his weekly Monday press conference.
“We don’t have any communication with the Big 12 office,” Jones said. “We still do the typical set of criteria that we have every week, but we still submit the plays. I don’t ever think an officiating call costs you or wins you a football game. I think you have to decide it between the lines. I will just tell you that it was disappointing.”
While Jones did make that point in response to a question, he also took the full blame on himself for the disappointing loss for the Vols.
“First and foremost, as a head football coach, I am responsible for the losses, and I take responsibility,” he said on Monday.
Here are a few clips of some of the calls in question that went against the Vols:

Butch Jones was outraged after this missed false start and had a right to be, frankly https://t.co/RyOxgoVrs0

Of course, not every call went against UT. Oklahoma very well may have been robbed a touchdown when the officials ruled that Joshua Dobbs’ forward progress was stopped on this play just before the ball slipped out.
#Vols saved by the forward progress call that hurt them vs. BG last week. Very close. https://t.co/EPXdKZ7eC1
