Friday Top 10: Vols Who Need to Step Up Against OU

8. DTs Shy Tuttle/Kahlil McKenzie

Kahlil McKenzie-1-4

I’m lumping these two into one gigantic 700-pound person. We thought this duo would play more and more as the season progressed, but that process got accelerated this week with the suspension of starting DT Danny O’Brien. Butch Jones said McKenzie and Tuttle must step up after seeing more of a limited role against Bowling Green last week. This Oklahoma offensive line is, overall, inexperienced and has a couple sub-300-pounders on it as well. OU quarterback Baker Mayfield will be looking to get rid of the ball quickly, so the Vols need push and to get a hand in his face to disrupt an OU passing attack based largely on timing. All four defensive tackles expected to play a lot, which includes projected starters Kendal Vickers and Owen Williams as well, need to step up.
