Tennessee assistant coach/defensive backs coach Willie Martinez has been suspended for UT’s opener against Bowling Green on Saturday in Nashville, the team announced approximately before the 4 p.m. ET kickoff time.
A Tennessee spokesman said defensive quality control coach Stephen Smith, who joined the Vols this season, will be in the coaching box and acting as the defensive backs coach in Martinez’s absence.
