No. 6 Auburn (-10) vs Louisville, Saturday, 3:30 pm ET, CBS (Atlanta, Ga.)
Kevin: This is a fun one, Auburn is the darling of the SEC West among the national media this year and for good reason. A match up of offensive gurus like Bobby Petrino and Gus Malzahn is why college football is the best, and also why sports gambling can be so utterly frustrating. Auburn, despite losing four of the final five games and going 4-9 on the season against the spread is favored by at least ten on most sites. More importantly Auburn is 1-5 in its last 6 home games against the spread, whereas Louisville is 5-1 against the spread on the road. One has to imagine that the impact Will Muschamp will have on this game is significant, as he’s widely regarded as the best defensive coach in all of football. I do think Auburn wins this game, (-420 moneyline on a few sites, not available on Bovada) but Bobby Petrino is a big time coach who competes in big games. Ultimately I’ll roll the dice on Gus Malzahn, who, when given a full and healthy roster seems to be nearly unstoppable. I’ll take Auburn -10.
John: Holy shit. Kevin’s bringing it. But I think he’s overlooked what a lot of folks tend to overlook when it comes to the Auburn Tigers. Gus Malzahn’s propensity for wearing mom jeans.
See? Which is why I’m taking the double digit dog. Besides, with Gus’ mom jeans in play? Word on the street is that Petrino loves to show people who’s the daddy. Take Louisville.
