Grantland Writer Picks Dobbs to Win Heisman

Joshua Dobbs-1Joshua Dobbs’ Heisman odds may sit at 100/1, but at least one prominent college football writer thinks that Tennessee’s starting QB can take home the hardware this year, becoming the first Vol in history to do so in the process.

Mallory Rubin of Grantland.com chose Dobbs to win the Heisman in Grantland’s preseason college football predictions, published Thursday. Be sure to read the entire article for a ton of great insight, but here’s an excerpt of what was said about Dobbs:

“I don’t really believe that Dobbs has this thing locked, but I do believe that the Ohio State candidates will cancel each other out, and the kid piloting this year’s breakout team seems like a smart pick to fill that void,” Rubin wrote.

Grantland also recently picked Tennessee as one of its six breakout teams for 2016 and a pair of its writers, later in the predictions article, tabbed the Vols as the SEC East champion as well. It looks like this wing of ESPN is buying into a lot of the Vol hype in 2015.
