7. Schedule
This year’s schedule is way better than last year’s. Don’t get me wrong, an SEC schedule is never gonna be all rainbows and unicorns, but most of the toughest tests for this Volunteer team will take place in Neyland. Oklahoma, Arkansas, Georgia and South Carolina. Yes. I’m calling SC a tough test. If Tennessee beats SC this year, that’d be Jones’ third consecutive win over Spurrier. I don’t care what stage of his career he’s in. That’s quite an accomplishment and I have a feeling it won’t come easily, especially as much venom as Spurrier has built up for the Vols. But I digress. The point is, Tennessee has the bulk of its big games at home this year. But it’s not just where the Vols play their tough games that benefits them. In some cases it’s when. UGA will roll into town fresh off a date with Bama, one that could leave the Bulldogs with a bruise or two. And while it’s never fun to roll into T-town to face Saban’s Crimson Tide, the Vols will have two weeks to prepare for this year’s encounter.
