4. D-Line Dominance
Understatement of the year: Derek Barnett had a nice 2014 campaign, right? Historical, in fact. And with him, Curt Maggitt and others coming off the edge last season, the Vols got more pressure on the quarterback than they have in quite sometime. After spending several years near the bottom of the SEC in sacks, the Vols jumped all the way to third (35 total) in a conference loaded with dominant defensive linemen. And this year, those guys will be the beneficiaries of some much needed size in the middle with the advent of freshmen monsters Kahlil McKenzie and Shy Tuttle. Sprinkle in Owen Williams, Danny O’Brien and Kendal Vickers in the middle and another freshman beast Kyle Phillips at DE, and you’ll get a Tennessee defensive line that will be two things it hasn’t been in quite sometime. Deep and dominant.
