5. At Alabama, Oct. 24
In terms of rivalry and perhaps importance to the fans, this game could easily be right at the top of the list. But I’m making the argument here that this is one of the few, if not the only, game that the Vols have some grace in this year. Early Vegas lines say the Vols are either favorites or close to dead even with every other team on the schedule. Alabama, however, opened up as nine-point favorites against Tennessee, meaning the Vols might be another year away from being able to compete with the Crimson Tide. So while a bitter rivalry game is never a “freebie” on the schedule, this is a game the Vols could lose and still accomplish a lot in 2015.
