Many have written Steve Spurrier and South Carolina off this year, and it is true that the Gamecocks have some questions and aren’t the top threat in the East they’ve been in some past seasons. Recent history, however, shows that this will be a close game for the Vols, with UT needing a last-second field goal in 2013 and a miraculous comeback and overtime in 2014 to knock off the Gamecocks. Whether or not SC is a threat in the East, the Vols need to knock the Gamecocks off if they’re going to be serious contenders themselves.
