We tweeted last night about Tennessee freshman defensive tackle Kahlil McKenzie running over projected starting right tackle Coleman Thomas during a drill in the open practice in front of approximately 40,000 fans at the open practice at Neyland Stadium.
Defensive line is having its way with the o-line right now.
McKenzie just put Coleman Thomas on his back. One of several good reps.

Unfortunately we didn’t get video of it because so many other drills were going on at the same time. But Patrick Murray of WBIR-TV did, and put a Vine out of the aforementioned rep, and it does it much better justice than just telling about it.

You can see the similarities to what he did to redshirt sophomore guard Austin Sanders on the first day in pads this camp.

McKenzie isn’t perfect, and Butch Jones has warned against overhyping him because of his recruiting ranking or small clips from practice. McKenzie also appeared to sustain a minor injury later in the open practice that could set him back a bit, though Jones had no official word on that after the practice. But it’s easy to see what all the hype is about and just how dominant he can be in spurts, and that’s something worth getting excited about for UT fans.
