9. LB Reggie Ragland, Alabama
Alabama gets hit hard by early entries into the NFL draft every year, but Ragland is one guy the Tide got back, and he’ll anchor a defense that has several stars on it. At 6-foot-2, 252 pounds, Ragland’s the prototypical inside linebacker in Nick Saban’s defense. He has great size, athleticism and instincts. The 2014 Butkus Award semifinalist and preseason First-Team All-SEC selection is also getting some work as an outside linebacker in camp, perhaps setting him up to be a two-down player at inside linebacker and then an edge rusher on third down. The Vols’ offensive line will have its hands full with Ragland moving around and making plays for the Tide.
