LB Darrin Kirkland Jr.
Kirkland Jr. is another guy who made it in during the spring, but didn’t practice due to injury. The hype and expectations have been pretty large for him with many assuming he has a chance to compete for the inside linebacker starting job as a freshman. It’s difficult to say exactly how that battle is shaping up right now, but we haven’t seen anything from him that makes us think he was in any way overrated. He moves like a skill player, has good size and coaches have raved about his “photographic memory” that allows him to easily learn and retain the defensive scheme.
