8. It’s hard to say who the MLB will be, but they aren’t short on options
Middle linebacker remains the most open position on the roster with as many as seven guys – Kenny Bynum, Dillon Bates, Jakob Johnson, Gavin Bryant, Colton Jumper, Austin Smith and Darrin Kirkland Jr. vying for that spot. Without too much contact, it’s hard to project an early favorite, though Bynum comes in with the experience advantage and is regularly touted as the guy who knows the defense and the alignments as well as anybody. The bad news is that replacing A.J. Johnson isn’t an easy task, but with so many options, competition should help elevate this position.
