6. The defensive ends hope less is more
One observations about several of the defensive ends – they look leaner for the most part this fall. Derek Barnett, Curt Maggitt, Corey Vereen and Dimarya Mixon are among the ends who look to have slimmed over the offseason. Throw in newcomer Darrell Taylor, who looks more like an outside linebacker, and it appears that the Vols are going for a quicker, more aggressive breed of defensive end this year. With the size they have inside at defensive tackle, that’s an approach that might work well.
