Backfield
Daniel:
QB: 1. Joshua Dobbs 2. Quinten Dormady
RB: 1. Jalen Hurd 2. Alvin Kamara
Thoughts: Pretty simple at running back, in my opinion. The Vols will use these two as much as possible, while trying to keep them healthy because depth is extremely limited. Dobbs is the obvious choice at starting quarterback, and I’m keeping Dormady as the backup. Sheriron Jones has done some good things this summer, but I think Dormady wins out there.
Houston:
QB: 1. Joshua Dobbs 2. Quinten Dormady 3. Sheriron Jones
RB: 1. Jalen Hurd/Alvin Kamara
Thoughts: The one group that I have supreme confidence in…the backfield. If a couple of young running backs can step up behind Hurd and Kamara, then the running back situation can quickly turn from good to great. Dobbs and Dormady looked really nice in the spring, and with Jauan Jennings reportedly being tried out at “other positions” (wide receiver, anyone?) it looks like Sheriron Jones will be QB3.
Reed:
QB: 1. Joshua Dobbs 2. Quinten Dormady
RB: 1. Jalen Hurd 2. Alvin Kamara
Thoughts: No changes here for me, either. Jones should have a shot to get in the conversation for the backup QB job, but Dormady has a large lead on him after a massive spring. Tennessee is in good shape here and should be all season as long as injuries aren’t an issue.
