Offensive Line
Daniel:
LT: 1. Kyler Kerbyson 2. Dontavius Blair/Drew Richmond
LG: 1. Marcus Jackson 2. Austin Sanders
C: 1. Mack Crowder 2. Coleman Thomas/Dylan Wiesman
RG: 1. Jashon Robertson 2. Chance Hall
RT: 1. Brett Kendrick 2. Jack Jones
Thoughts: This has been the toughest spot for me every time we’ve projected the depth chart over the course of the offseason. I feel pretty good about projecting the inside spots, though there will be competition at center. I’m putting Crowder there for now due to experience and seniority, but Thomas and Wiesman are among the players that could push him. Tackle continues to be a work in progress. I think the coaches are going to be steadfast in their plan to keep Kerbyson at left tackle. It’s anybody’s guess on the right side. I’m penciling in Kendrick for the start of camp, but they could go a number of directions there.
Houston:
LT: 1. Kyler Kerbyson 2. Drew Richmond/Dontavius Blair
LG: 1. Marcus Jackson 2. Austin Sanders
C: 1. Coleman Thomas 2. Mack Crowder
RG: 1. Jashon Robertson 2. Austin Sanders
RT: 1. Brett Kendrick 2. Jack Jones
Thoughts: Confidence Level: Still zero. I’m keeping this one the same until proven otherwise…which will probably happen after the first week of practice in pads. Some reports from campus suggest that Drew Richmond may be able to help out sooner, rather than later, which would be a very positive development for this group as they continue to look for answers and depth at key positions. All eyes will be on this group once camp opens next week.
Reed:
LT: 1. Kyler Kerbyson 2. Drew Richmond
LG: 1. Marcus Jackson 2. Dylan Wiesman
C: 1. Mack Crowder 2. Coleman Thomas
RG: 1. Jashon Robertson 2. Chance Hall
RT: 1. Brett Kendrick 2. Jack Jones
Thoughts: I’m confident in exactly two of these picks – Robertson and Jackson. The other spots are up for grabs headed into camp and the Vols clearly need better play at those positions to meet ever rising expectations for the season.
